Mission Possible - Pennant Hills
This garden in Pennant Hills was perhaps the biggest transformation we have ever achieved. The original garden was nothing more than a parking lot with an asbestos garage, massage car port, no privacy and absolutely no connection between the house and pool.
In fact you couldn’t even see the pool from the house due to the intervening structures. It was under any circumstances a bit of a shocker!! Our clients who had inherited the garden when they purchased the house wanted to create a family space and update the pool area but still include some element of off street parking with carport.
The key was always going to be reconciling the levels and making the parking area not look like a parking area. Always a tricky undertaking. We decided to create essentially three different levels through the garden for the lawn, parking and pool.
The materials were chosen to reflect the age and style of the house which despite the garden was a beautiful heritage cottage. Reclaimed bricks walls and paving compliment the Travertine paving used throughout creating a timeless link to the property.
A large sliding gate was installed to allow for the parking space and with the touch of a button can be opened and closed with ease. The car port is a simple timber and colourbond structure but really works with the garden given the simple white colour scheme.
It could easily double as a seating area with dining table and doesn’t look out of place at all. The planting is a very simple layered affair reflecting our clients wishes for a formal approach.
The garden is now a huge success and an asset to the cottage, a real family space. Another bonus is that our clients have virtually doubled their investment with a real value add to their property.
